The Bible is the most read book and is the most widely translated book in the world. Although the most recent part of the Bible was added more than 1500 years ago, it continues to be relevant even today, in the 21st century. No other book has ever impacted man as much as the Bible. The Bible is a miracle given to us by God. Those who read the Bible discover that their lives change.
The Bible Retreat takes you on a journey through the scriptures. It starts with an introduction to the Bible. The Sinhala version of the retreat takes you on a journey through the old testament with Abraham, while in the English version, with Joseph. Both versions of the retreat takes you on the journey through the new testament with Jesus.
The Sinhala version of the Retreat consists of eight talks while the English version consists of seven only. The Retreat is usually conducted over two full days, with the first dedicated to the old testament and the second, to the new testament. We hope that these talks will make your own journey through the scriptures more meaningful.
Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.
He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?" And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
